Banpu boosts China business
Banpu Pcl, Thailand's biggest coal miner, boosted its presence in China's mining and energy industries by acquiring control of four power plants from Alliant Energy Corp., an owner of utilities in the US Midwest.
The $84 million purchase is part of a ``strategy to strengthen Banpu's business through geographical expansion into China,'' Chief Executive Chanin Vongkusolkit said in a statement.
