Flood death toll surges to 652 in Guatemala
GUATEMALA CITY - The death toll from mudslides and floods triggered by Tropical Storm Stan in Guatemala has risen to 652 people, the government said late Sunday.
The previous toll for all of Central America made public on Saturday stood at 610 dead.
Hugo Hernandez, secretary of the national disaster relief committee, also said about 98,000 Guatemalan residents have suffered property damage as a result of the natural disaster.
In addition, about 1,400 people are believed to be buried......
