BANGKOK, Oct 14 - Thailand's currency, the baht, is expected to remain strong against the US dollar this week, according to a report issued by Kasikorn Research Center.
On Friday, the baht closed at Bt34.12-34.17 against the dollar on the onshore market compared to Bt34.14-34.18 on Thursday.
The report said the baht is projected to remain strong and move within Bt34.10-34.20 against the dollar this week, on the back of factors including the selling of dollars by exporters, foreign capital inflows, and possible market intervention by the Bank of Thailand and forthcoming key US economic indicators which will be released soon.
Both market liquidity and the short-term interest rate are expected to remain unchanged this week as the market lacks new factors while firms pay monthly value-added tax to the government through commercial banks on Monday, it said.
