Excel sees thermal coal prices firm

SYDNEY - New South Wales miner Excel Coal said on Wednesday demand for export thermal coal would stay strong, with pricing likely to remain around what it said were prevailing rates around $44 per tonne.
Still, Excel said contract prices for the next year had yet to be settled with major customers, and predicted that prices for weaker grades of coking coal would decline.
Analysts have predicted Japanese power firms would pay less for their thermal coal this year after Kansai Electric Power...
