PM: Discussion with NSC needed to lift ban on political gatherings

BANGKOK, Dec 21 - Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said Thursday that he must discuss with Thailand's National Security Council (NSC) before he could lift orders banning political parties from conducting gatherings or other activities.

Imposed by the military coup-makers following the September 19 coup d'etat, the measures continue to have a dampening effect on political expression.
