THE Thai government will offer new services for its 30-baht healthcare scheme hoping to enhance disease prevention.
The new services, to be available in about two months, will include dental checks for primary school students, cancer smear tests for women, thyroid hormone tests for newborns and check-ups for drivers of public transport, said Public Health Minister Suchai Charoenratanakul on Tuesday, as quoted by the Bangkok-Post.
Dental sealants will be provided to Grade 1 students nationwide and cervical and breast cancer tests be available to women aged 35-40, said Suchai.
As the health of drivers is crucial to their passengers, health checks and blood tests will be offered to bus, taxi and tuk-tuk drivers.
Sa-nguan Nittayarampong, secretary general of the National Health Security Office, said the government has set aside money for the extra services and hospitals will receive subsidies according to the number of check-ups they provide.
