Thai golf pro Prayad Marksaeng will be the first to tee-off Wednesday evening (Thailand time) in the Match Play Championship tournament where Tiger Woods makes his return to professional golf.
Prayad, ranked 53rd of the 64 players, faces Lee Westwood of England, with an evening, 23:36 tee time.
That match will be over by the time No 1 seed Woods faces Australian Brendan Jones at 16:02 Thailand time on Thursday.
Woods announced that he will play in the tournament, in Marana, Arizona, as his first competition since he won the US Open on a broken leg and had knee surgery.
A day after his caddie Steve Williams said Woods was "a few weeks" away from returning because he "needs a little bit more walking," Woods emphatically contradicted that with the news that he'll compete for the first time in eight months.
What's more, he said on his website that he believes his reconstructed left knee and game are good enough to win the Feb 25-March 1 tournament at the new Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus design at Dove Mountain in suburban Tucson.
"I'm now ready to play again," Woods said.
