share prices closed flat after profit-taking in selected property and other stocks trimmed back a modest early advance, dealers said.
They said trade was volatile on the expiry of the November futures contract, with investors happy to take some profits after the recent gains.
The Hang Seng Index closed down 6.86 points or 0.05 percent at 14,060.05, off a low of 14,015.71 and a high of 14,137.32 on heavy turnover of HK$25.48 billion (US$3.3 billion).
