BANGKOK, Dec 6 - Most stock market players investing via trading on the Internet are satisfied with the services, but remain uneasy regarding the security of the system, according to an industry executive.

Chanisa Chutipat, President of Settrade.com Co, said the company conducted a survey of opinions among 2,125 users of the Internet trading system, focusing on two groups: stock investors and brokers, members of Settrade.com, to study stock trading behaviour via the Internet and their customers level of satisfaction.

The survey showed that 84.9 per cent of investors using Settrade are satisfied with its services, and that 97.9 per cent of brokers are happy with the system since it provides an easy and lively access to functions.

Marketing and IT staff viewed easy, lively and integrated functioning on a terminal screen is a strong point of the services.

The survey found investors through the Internet trading system gave a priority to an easy and quick access to information, uncomplicated functions, and the securities firms' ability to maintain privacy of personal data of customers.

On investors' options to invest via Internet, 42 per cent of users said they could key programmes by themselves and consider the safety of the system as a top priority.

The survey showed that 58 per cent of people, who opted not to invest via Internet, said they were concerned regarding the safety of the Internet trading system.

Mrs Chanisa revealed the value of the stock trading through Internet from early this year to October 31 amounted to Bt37.86 billion or 6.91 per cent of the total trading in the whole system.

The number of Internet trading accounts totalled 107,546, up 17.46 per cent from that of the same period last year, she said. (TNA)
