The January edition of UK-based international current affairs magazine the Economist has been banned in Thailand, amids local indignation over its reporting of the royal Thai family.
The Economist's Thai distributor stopped Friday's issue of The Economist - which carries an article concerning an Australian writer who was arrested for defaming the Thai monarchy.
In Decmber 2008 another edition was banned because of an article questioning the Thai monarch's role in public life....... (read more)

BANGKOK, Oct 25 - The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index on Thursday surged 3.17 per cent thanks to speculative buys in energy stocks as investors believed global oil prices would reach US$100 a barrel, dealers said.
The SET index closed at 893.45 points, up 27.42 points from Wednesday, with a turnover of more than Bt22 billion.
